Unbox partners with Greenspark to Plant over 13,000 Trees in April

May 1st 2024 - Unbox Mobile announced that its Mangrove Project Initiative, developed in partnership with Greenspark, has successfully planted over 13,000 trees in Kenya. Launched in April, Unbox Mobile customers were given a unique opportunity. With each purchase of a Unbox Mobile Certified Pre-Owned tech device, one tree would be planted as part of the initiative, ultimately contributing to environmental restoration and carbon offset.

“At Unbox Mobile we take the health of the planet very seriously,” commented Oday Alyatim, Unbox Mobile Co-founder and CEO. “In addition to the significant amount of e-waste we conserve each year, we were looking for an additional program to further our commitment. Greenspark was the perfect partner to help us realize that goal.”

To date, Unbox Mobile ability to source, inspect, deep clean, and certify hundreds of thousands of pre-owned MacBooks, iPads, phones, and other tech devices has kept over one million pounds of electronic waste from ending up in landfills. The environmental impact of the plastics and heavy metals often used in the technology manufacturing process is substantial, underscoring the value to these efforts and results.

Unbox Mobile intends to launch another initiative with Greenspan in the months ahead. Feedback from Unbox Mobile customers has been overwhelming as their worldwide customer base learns that shopping for affordable tech can also benefit a planet already struggling with so many manmade issues.
